April 2010
Classes at the Art League of Long Island have started and are going well. I am back from the National Council on Education on the Ceramic Arts in Philadelphia. It was very informative and wonderful to see what is going on in the ceramics world.
I am preparing a cat for "Cat'nAroundCatskill" which is an annual event on Main Street in Catskill. My sponsor is the Greene County Council on the Arts. In addition , Susan Jablon Mosaics, Tracie Max Sachs and Lisajoy Sachs/Cahlander have generously given me glass tiles and dichroic pieces to affix to my "Venetian Kitty"
Why " Venetian Kitty"?? Very simple- my inspiration comes from the desire to go to Venice, Italy to see all of the sights, gondolas, canals and Venetian glass. That trip is in my future.
Meanwhile, my travels have taken me to the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador. It was wonderful. Charles Darwin's adventures are still amazing and the efforts there to maintain a wonderful parklike atmosphere is terrific. I swam with the penguins, seals and talked with the Blue Footed Boobies, land and marine iguanas and my favorite- the Sally Lightfoot Crab.
I will travel to China in September to see the Yangsee River before it is changed by the dam which is being built. Of course I will also see all there is in between including the 2300 year old TerraCotta Warriors. I am overwhelmed with the thought.
Classes at BannerHill in Windham, NY will start for me in June. Please see their web sight to get more information. www.bannerhillllc.com I will be teaching several workshops: Geometric forms, and Raku. Please join me.
In addition, I also have a tile class and other offerings at the Art League of LI for the summer. See their websight at www.artleagueofli.com
